“A recurring argument threatens more than just a dinner party...”
Written by: Kai Smith
Directed by: Dustin Britt
Stage Managed by: Laura Pennachi
Annalisa Hartlaub as BROOKE
Ren Gallon as LEVI
Debbie Hoodiman as BECK
Synopsis
BROOKE has just gone through a breakup - one that was quite the doozy. They’ve let their apartment get…kinda gross. LEVI, Brooke’s long time best friend, is all too familiar with this pattern of behavior - but the dinner party Brooke agreed to host waits for no one.
In a moment of weakness, {who among us} Brooke texts their ex, BECK, under the guise of returning a book they left at the apartment. Levi feels hurt - but mostly by the pain of watching someone they care so deeply about continue to push away those closest to them. After all, just how long can you continue to convince someone that they’re worthy of support and love before it starts to sting too much?
After an eye-opening conversation with Beck, Brooke finally realizes that they have to be in charge of their own happiness - as uncomfortable as the optics of such a shift in perspective can be - and that there is no such thing as damage beyond repair.
